Waterland Private Equity has expanded its portfolio company Schönes Leben/compassio to include the care specialist A+R Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. The company operates three inpatient nursing facilities, two of which are located north of Hamburg. This is the second acquisition of the group in the month of November.
Following the acquisition of the specialised care home operator Gut Köttenich/Euregio in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia announced last week, Schönes Leben/compassio has added its first two facilities in northern Germany by acquiring A+R Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. The stationary care facilities are located in Ahrensburg and Reinfeld, two towns north of Hamburg, giving Schönes Leben access to the regional market. A third facility is located in the Bavarian town Schongau, where it is connected to the local hospital.
“We will be moving into newly constructed facilities at all three locations in the next 12 months. With its two nursing homes in the northern part of the country, A+R Betriebsgesellschaft mbH is the perfect addition to Schönes Leben/compassio, which has so far maintained a footprint mainly in southern Germany and North Rhine-Westphalia”, says Marc Hildebrand, CEO of Schönes Leben Group. “The acquisition allows us to open up a new region in Germany and gives us a foundation for further growth. Simultaneously, the home in Schongau expands our portfolio with an excellent facility in compassio’s core region, bringing us one step closer to our goal of becoming the most modern provider of services for elderly people over the age of 65.” The Schönes Leben/compassio strategy is based on the three pillars of care, assisted living and tailored support services for the aforementioned target group.
“On behalf of Schönes Leben, we look forward to the new locations offering outstanding infrastructural quality in Ahrensburg, Reinfeld and Schongau, along with access to the northern German region,” Dr Carsten Rahlfs, a managing partner at Waterland, adds. “We will continue to strategically and financially support the future growth of Schönes Leben.”
